Introduction to Green Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies
Free
Welcome to the Introduction to Green Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies course.
Overview
India has set its sight on becoming energy independent by 2047 and achieving Net Zero by 2070. To achieve this target, increasing renewable energy use across all economic spheres is central to India's Energy Transition. Green Hydrogen is considered a promising alternative for enabling this transition. Hydrogen can be utilized for long-duration storage of renewable energy, replacement of fossil fuels in industry, clean transportation, and potentially also for decentralized power generation, aviation, and marine transport.
A fuel cell is an electrochemical power generator. Fuel cells combine hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity with water and heat generated as byproducts. Fuel cells, like a battery, create energy via an electrochemical process and not combustion. This course will help you understand the applications, demand, and supply, its production methods, and also global challenges.
Objective
This course will help you understand:
- Hydrogen wave and its reason
- Global hydrogen demand and supply
- Hydrogen production methods
- Hydrogen storage
- Hydrogen applications
- Types of fuel cell and its application
- Global challenges
Speaker

Duration: ~ 60 min
About the Student Series:
The energy and transportation ecosystems are undergoing a dynamic transition globally with a paradigm shift from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries. With the increased demand for electric vehicles and stationary energy, energy storage systems are becoming a necessity for these ecosystems.
As we dive into advanced energy storage research and scale up production and usage of energy storage systems, it becomes critical to build a strong foundation for the future workforce. On this background, starting August 2022, IESA Academy is organizing a year-long student series on energy storage systems to
- Increase awareness of energy storage systems
- Build a foundation for energy storage systems taskforce
- Simplify energy storage concepts for a non-technical audience
- Open the spectrum of emerging technologies to students and non-technical professionals
